THE BREAD OF LIFE

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him . John 6:53-56

Of course, Jesus was speaking figuratively here about belief in Himself. Those who have believed in Christ have eaten, therefore have eternal life. Jesus used these dramatic words to emphasize the lesson that we must truly feed on Christ or there is no life. As real as food is to us for life, so too must Jesus be that real to us.

The truth is that spiritually, it is impossible to live without Christ. He is our daily bread, our everything. We cannot live without Jesus! Apart from Him, we are dead in our sin. So God invites us to believe in the death, resurrection, exaltation, and bodily return of Christ.

Believe (eat) in Him, and keep on believing (eating). Live with total dependence because without him we cannot live.
